Amster-dam fine pants

I wore these for a week as I walked, biked, trammed and trained around the whole of Amsterdam. They were the most comfortable, functional, and practical (and can I say just darn good looking) pants I have worn. The zip pockets and the magnetic buckle are now my new standard in pants and shorts.

FAQs

DWR stands for Durable Water Repellency. DWR is a coating applied to fabrics to make them water-resistant (hydrophobic). It causes water to bead up and roll off the surface of the material, rather than soaking into the fabric. We use PFAS free DWR in all our pants.

The design is the same.
The major difference is they are constructed of two different fabrics. 91% Polyester and 9 % spandex in the Daily Drivers compared to 88% Nylon and 12% Spandex in the Lightweights.

The Lightweight fabric has our Long Lasting Bug Repellency where the Daily Drivers have DWR Durable Water Repellency instead. These differences translate to the Daily Drivers being softer and a more regular weight of fabric for all 4 seasons where the Lightweight Traveler Pants are primarily a 3 season pant perfect for those hot jungle destinations.

No issues! Our magnets create no problem through security and have been through hundreds of TSA security checks across many different countries!

Nope! We have not experienced any issues and neither should you unless you go out of your way to try to mess something up!

Yes, our pants have 5 belt loops.

If you have some stubborn creases we recommend using a hand steamer to take the creases out quickly or you can use an iron on low heat over a towel.

The hidden drawstring provides additional security those that need it. If you find you don't use it, its very easy to remove. Just pull it through and find a creative use for it. (Casey used one as a tie for a sleeping pad after losing a stuff sack)

HANG DRY ONLY - the magnet will stick to the dryer and could potential rip out. Luckily, they'll dry just as fast as a load in the dryer.
Wash with any regular load.
Steam if needed but do not iron.

Nice quality; size issues

The pants are good quality, but I wish you had a 31" waist as an option. They just don't fit well at the waist, but 30" would probably be too tight. Nice length and pantleg fit, however.

Pretty great

I bought these for a 6-week trip running around Europe with a mixture of outdoor and city adventures and I'm super happy with them. They are super comfortable with the right amount of stretch, they are very stain resistant (tested multiple times after dropping food in my lap), and do indeed fit in on the trail as well at a nice dinner restaurant in Berlin, Budapest, or Milan. I only have two thoughts that, in my opinion, would make them better: (1) I'm still not sure about the magnet and drawstring. I like some aspects of the magnetic buckle (quick, easy closure and ability to hang on something metal to dry), but it makes the buckle area stick out from the waste more than a button or snap, it's not supposed to be used in a dryer, which is less than ideal, and overall, I don't think it's any better than a snap or button. I also find the drawstring a bit annoying. I tried using but it takes time to tie and I also found it falling out of the zipper and getting in the way when using the loo. I'd rather see an adjustable waist strap that would allow me to tighten or loosen the waist when needed rather than use the drawstring or a belt. Also, the size 34 was a little big for me and the size 32 was just a bit too small so I always used a belt instead of the drawstring, but the waste line often bunched up with the belt which wasn't ideal either. (2) I know there seems to be a stigma against zip-off pants, but man, are they practical. I would really like to see a version of these pants with a discreet zip-off lower leg which would give me a lot more versatility when traveling and hiking and could still look good enough for dinner at a nice restaurant. As a final note, I think sales would improve with a different name. "Daily Driver" and "Traveler Pants" don't really help shoppers understand the difference between the two options and these "Daily Driver" pants are excellent pants for travel too. Overall, they are really great pants and I will be buying another pair or two.

Phenomenal Pants

I was looking for pants that were a nicer version of soccer warm-up pants for traveling. I needed ones that had the zippered pockets to keep valuables secured when adventuring in new places, and my soccer pants just look too casual for nicer places. I tried both the Teren and Bluffworks chinos to compare and see which ones were better. TL:DR - Went with Teren over Bluffworks. Magnet closure works, but nothing exceptional compared to a traditional button

I went with the Teren over the bluff works based on the simplicity of just the 2 additional zippered side pockets. The bluffworks chinos had a total of like 10 pockets, most of which were too specific to be useful taking away from the usefulness of the zippered pockets. One of the zippered pockets in the bluffwors has a velcro flap that allows you to access them from inside the pants (no idea why you would need to get to a pocket from inside and outside of your pants). The other major thing is the way the pockets zip open. Teren's pockets are on the seam of the pants to help hide it from view and zip down to open, that means when closed the zipper is up near your waistband (below the belt line) and it's easy to zip down and access whatever you need. the bluffworks zippers are inside the pocket and reversed, so you need to zip up to get inside of it which sometimes pulls the pants up and needing to use 2 hands. With the position on the zippers they are also slightly visible from looking at them, while not a deal breaker it also has a different texture on the inside of the pocket which shows a little from side view if you have items in the zippered ones. The materials on both were similar, but the bluffworks are able to be tumble dried. The Teren are long and I will need to get them hemmed even though it is the same inseam measurement. The magnet closure is cool and I do find it opening when crouched into tighter spaces, but the corners of the pants around the magnet are very stiff and poke into you a little until their washed several times to become a little flexible. It also has some issues with closing back up on its own.
That is one of the selling points in their video and it will clasp itself back together, but only if the pants realign in the correct way and do not snag on your shirt or misalign due to the drawstring or not being tight enough when standing back up. it is nice having to just quickly adjust the waistband to bring them into proximity for them to clasp back though. The magnets are also very helpful in hanging them up to dry on a metal clothing bar or coat rack if you don't have a drying rack accessible. Some reviews say the drawstring is pointless, and well it is much less important than a drawstring on soccer pants (since the ends are very far apart) it does still provide enough support that I haven't needed a belt when wearing them and feel like it will give enough hold to not need to pack a belt when traveling anymore either. I have the Black and Charcoal colors and will be getting the Brown next. The black is nice, but could be a little darker to look more like slacks that are typically darker although they still look more like slacks than sweatpants. I was hesitant on the brown at first due to how dark it looks, but after feeling the material I still think the Khaki will be too light for me and get stained easily.

Love these pants

I love the high waist. I have a long torso and modern cut pants slip off until I feel like I have a plumbers smile showing back there. These high waisted pants are snug above the hip bone, and the rubber logo inside the waistband which is designed to keep shirttails from becoming untucked have the complimentary benefit of keeping the pants from slipping down.
The high quality zippered pockets are very secure.
The stretch fabric is comfortable without being baggy, feels breathable and keeps cool.
Fabric keeps shape and doesn’t wrinkle, though some creases from being packed while shipping seem to persist, though I haven’t tried ironing because they are near the inseam and don’t seem visible when wearing.
In summary I love these pants.
